Horizon pilots concur to 5-year contract

Pilots at regional carrier Horizon Air said that they had agreed to a new five-year-contract with the SeaTac-based airline.

The contract acceptance pursues more than four years of negotiation. The contract was approved by the membership with a 60-percent endorsement vote.

The pilots, represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters APA Local 1224, said the new contract comprises “dramatic improvements in work conditions where the pilots will be writing their own schedules and trips.”

Wage rates will be resolute in an arbitration process. “Significant ratification bonuses” also were added in the agreement, the union said.
